Learning to Fly by Donna Gray

11:00

Hi everyone,

Donna here today with a little hand carved birdie for you.

What to do:

Take a size 8 manila tag and swoosh through a mixture of Distress Oxides that have been spritzed with water. Keep going until you achieve the background you’re happy with.

Next step is to carve your little bird from Speedy Carve….if you don’t feel adventurous enough for that then you can use a bird stamp from your stash ;)

Stamp him onto the tag and colour directly with Distress Markers. Don’t dilute them with a water brush first as you want the colours more intense, use a white pen for a bit of doodling.

Next step is to do some background stamping using a mixture of That’s Crafty! clear stamp sets, some with black Archival and some with the Oxides.

The stitching stamp is from my stash but you can draw a similar style to make it look like stitching or ‘ground’ the bird another way.

Add more details using That’s Crafty! stencils (at the top of the tag and under the bird) and then pop a little Tim Holtz sentiment for a finishing touch.

I think this little birdie is going to fly far and wide ;)

Supplies Used:

That’s Crafty! Clear Stamp Sets – Textures Set 1 and Quirky Girl Penny (leaf)
That’s Crafty! Stencils – Dinky Hearts and Word Series Time

Hope you like it
